POSITION: Junior/Assistant Talent Buyer

REPORTS TO: Managing Partner, Booking or Senior Talent Buyer
Crybaby is a 500 person venue in downtown Oakland. We are seeking a Junior Talent Buyer to join our team. The Junior/Assistant Talent Buyer will assist with the booking of events and shows for the designated venues. They will draft offers to be submitted to artists and venues. They will also work to build relationships locally to foster Crybaby’s relationship with the greater East Bay music community. They will coordinate availability of both artists and venues to create calendar holds for shows and events. Additionally, they will assist in the maintenance of show files and the settlement of shows.
Position is based in Oakland, CA. This is a hybrid role, but candidates must be located or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with the booking of events.
- Establish, build and maintain positive relations with agents, managers and industry representatives.
- Research artists and identify artists appropriate for the venue.
- Draft offers for artists and venues based on projected ticket sales. Reach out to venues to place calendar holds and coordinate with the availability of an artist.
- Submit offers to venues and agents. Follow up to ensure that appropriate documents are in order. Assist with ticket pricing, royalties, marketing, budgeting, and catering.
- Assist with marketing, promotion, on-sale timeline and show advancing.
- Advance shows on the day of an event. Liaison with venue and artists teams and show advances on schedule.
- Maintain show files. Update information if changes are made and if new information is made available.
- Compile all relevant invoices for settlement of shows, scan documents into internal drive, and issue payments for vendors and appropriate parties.
- Responsible for various administrative tasks including submission of checks and contracts, ordering of petty cash, and revision of contracts for vendors and artists.
- May be responsible for various event related tasks including: booking of hotels, credentials, artist’s needs and updating show sheets, ensuring vendor forms have been completed correctly, and ensuring all vendors have all essential materials.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 year of related work experience required.
Skills Required:
- Computer savvy with knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and professional email etiquette.
- Able to have a flexible and hybrid work schedule, working both remotely and in-office as needed.
- Strong knowledge of the music industry, and music artists, concerts and the live music culture.
- Previous experience in the music industry with demonstrated ability to assess current music trends preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast paced environment
- Ability and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
- Experience in Photoshop preferred
- Manage show files: ensuring all essential documents are present prior to day of show (i.e. headliner and support contracts, W-9s, and riders
- Assist Booking Team in day-to-day activities
- Develop an understanding for the relationship between Local and Tour booking, i.e. routing, venue holds, ticket scaling, and various deal types
