About the Role:
The Accountant I is a key resource for bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, fiscal compliance, and financial reporting within our firms finance and accounting team. The Accountant I will serve as the primary accounting support to the finance department. This full-time position requires strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of financial principles.
Position Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable - Process invoices, matching them with receiving documents or confirming receipt. Verify accuracy of invoices, obtain approvals for payment, and enter data into the accounting system. Prepare and perform payments on a timely basis.
- Accounts Receivables - Generate customer invoices and statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Follow up on outstanding receivables and communicate with customers to resolve billing issues. Record payments and reconcile accounts receivable ledger.
- Enter recurring journal entries such as (daily deposits, prepaid expenses, payroll expenses, depreciation expense and monthly accruals)
- Self-reliant with the ability to research discrepancies and present solutions to supervisors.
- Distribute accounting reports as directed.
- Provide assistance with general office tasks and phone support as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent, required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferred
- Experience with various accounting systems and software such as MS Office Suite, Intacct and/or Sage 100 is a plus
- Good understanding of bookkeeping procedures
- Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors
