Internal Auditor

STARTING SALARY: $58,133

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Internal Auditor, the Internal Auditor reviews
financial affairs at the Region/Local/Unit level. The Internal Auditor also completes audits of
Region/Local/Unit under the direction of the Senior Internal Auditor. The Internal Auditor
works closely with the Director of Internal Operations and the Director of Finance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Conducts audits of Locals and Units under the direction of the Senior Internal Auditor
and participates in the filing of Judicial Board charges and acts as expert witness in
Judicial Board hearings, as required. This includes, and is not limited to, determining
compliance with the CSEA Financial Standards Code, determining whether regulatory
filings have been completed, documenting audit findings, drafting audit reports and
assisting with drafting and defending internal and external administrative complaints
and charges.
2. Advises Region/ Local/Unit Officers of the Union about reporting obligations and of
Federal filing requirements including the IRS and the US Department of Labor.
3. Assists Region, Region, Local and Unit Officers with the preparation of financial
reports and meets with the officers as necessary.
4. Works with Region, Region, Local and Unit Officers in advising them of acceptable
financial reporting procedures and audit techniques.
5. Works with the Labor Relations Specialist to administer financial affairs when Locals,
or Units are under administratorship.
6. Assists in developing uniform budgeting and reporting forms and instructions for
Regions, Locals and Units.
7. Administers compliance with CSEA’s Financial Standards code. Releases approved
rebate transmittals to the Director of Finance for compliant Locals and Regions.
Deducts late filing penalties and expenses where required.
8. Participates in the Treasurer’s Training of Officers for Regions/Locals/Units, as
required.
9. Some travel may be required.
10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience
with accounting, auditing, and IRS reporting requirements preferred
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training or experience as determined by CSEA.
NOTE: Candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license and have a car
available for business use in order to be to be appointed.
