About the Role
Our Hardware Engineering organization is looking for a resourceful, energetic Engineering Hardware Project Specialist to help manage the our product Bills of Materials (BOMs) from project design to product factory launch and then throughout the sustaining life of the product. This candidate will create and manage BOM configurations within engineering, create and manage BOM configurations to be shared with our manufacturing operations team and external partners, oversee the Engineering change management process for ECRs, ECOs, and ECNs, as well as assist with material readiness to support the development of enginering prototype builds. This candidate will work directly with the hardware technical lead, the technical program manager, the electrical and mechanical design engineers, the manufacturing operations engineers, the factory contract manufacturer and the supply chain project manager. Finally, this candidate will lead the review, selection and implementation of a new PLM tool for using within engineering and across the change management funcitons. This will include the data migration process for projects and products being active under change management.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with engineering design teams to create, structure and release BOMs, including part numbers, engineering change orders, and related technical drawings and documents
- PLM tool adminstration
- Defining process business rules and continuously improving PLM workflows
- Cross-business system integrations to reduce erros and manual data entries and checks
- Transitioning engineering and manufacturing teams through process and tool improvement cycles
- Setting up training programs for existing users and new engineers
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience working on hardware engineering change management practices
- Direct experience with engineering change management procedures used during early production design and development phases throughout product launch and sustaining
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience working on hardware engineering change management practices
- PLM administrator experience with 1 or more 3rd party PLMs (e.g., Teamcenter, Solidworks PDM, Windchill, and Agile)
- Experience with defining, implementing and improving change management workflows for engineering and manufacturing teams
- Experience with multi-level system BOMs
- BOM management experience from early product development through release to manufacturing
- Experience with PLM selection, defintiion and implementation and soliciting stakeholder requirements through this process
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Able to work independently on several projects in parallel
- Track record of working very in a fast-paced, team environment
- High level of attention to detail and critical thinking
- Very good verbal and written skills
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent degree or experience
