Description
Are you a driver of operational performance who enjoys coaching others to achieve success? Culinary Services Group is hiring an Area Manager to oversee all operational activities for several accounts. This person will provide leadership and coaching to facility personnel to help them achieve optimal performance and facility audit scores. They will also oversee food quality, purchasing, and facility budgets. Our ideal candidate has hands-on experience in an institutional or healthcare food service environment with knowledge of best practices in purchasing, food production, tray assembly, cash operations, budgeting, managing, and training. This role reports to the Regional Director of Operations. Travel is required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to direct reports and/or assigned facility personnel to achieve optimal performance.
- Manage and coordinate activities of subordinate managerial personnel involved in operating the facility.
- Direct through subordinate managerial staff, compliance of team members with established company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Inspect facility to ensure the operation complies with safety, health, and environmental codes and ordinances; adhere to workplace safety by utilizing company audits
- Maintain a positive working relationship within the facility with high visibility and promote good public relations between the facility (Client) and the company
- Display an external awareness of the facility and program and respond to unforeseen situations in a timely manner and be adaptable when needed.
- Ensure all food and menu items meet company and client expectations and effectively control food costs through proper purchasing, cooking, portioning, rotating, and utilization of the product.
- Ensure special dining and food-related promotions are being implemented to create a fun and progressive environment for the residents.
- Manage facility budget through effective cost control procedures and systems including but not limited to the product cost and labor cost.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are met and maintained operating within budgetary guidelines.
- Provide performance management guidance, coaching, and counseling to team members to ensure growth and development.
- Provide a quality dining experience that exceeds customer expectations.
- Promote and provide a work environment of teamwork and respect amongst employees, integrity, world-class customer service, financial responsibility, and continual pursuit of excellence.
- Follow all outlined Company, State, Federal, and other applicable health and safety regulations with regard to food service, healthcare, equipment use, and personal hygiene.
- Consistently practice and monitor key sanitation procedures and policies, especially regarding handwashing, proper food storage, and maintain appropriate temperature of food.
- Ensure that a clean and safe work area is maintained.
- Comprehend, comply, support, and administer all company rules, procedures, and policies with regard to operations, accounting, human resources, and payroll.
- Compile reports utilizing appropriate software programs and various communication methods in order to ensure effective food service operation
- Conduct non-HR-related investigations when required to determine facility operational problems and to develop an action plan to address the issue while ensuring action is completed to implement change.
- Ensure the department is in accordance with Culinary Services Group’s standards, contract nuances, and particular client requests.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays and able to travel with overnight requirements.
- This position may be called upon to perform other duties and tasks as determined by the immediate supervisor, client, and client location.
Requirements
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school preferably with a major in Food Service Administration or a related field
- ServSafe Certification
- Dietary Managers Certification (preferred) and/or other jurisdiction certifications
- Experience in institutional and/or healthcare food service environment with purchasing, food production, tray assembly, cash operations, budgeting, managing, and training experience
- Formal coursework in institutional cooking and food services sanitation desired
- Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong organization, planning, and project management skills are a must
