Transcriptionist – HIM Tech
Cumberland Hall Hospital is a 97 bed, licensed, acute psychiatric hospital located in beautiful Hopkinsville, KY. Cumberland Hall features individual units for youth, adults and active duty military, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Medical language specialist who transcribes and interprets dictation by physicians and other healthcare providers in order to document patient care. This position is also routinely involved in research of questions and in the education of others involved with patient care documentation. Audits, sorts and files copies of transcribed reports. Performs clerical duties in the Health Information Services Department.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Prefer experience typing histories and physicals, psychiatric evaluations, psycho-social histories, progress notes, discharge summaries, letters, and memos. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values related to a specialty or specialties.
Knowledge: Must be able to type 65 words per minute. Working knowledge of medical terminology with knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices, and HIPAA. Must be able to read and understand English.
This position is facility based; not eligible for remote work.
Must be able to work with background noise and interruptions.
Maintains high degree of confidentiality of patient records.
- Performs transcription and clerical duties.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Must be able to answer and speak on the telephone.
- Must be able communicate with physicians and direct care staff.
Must be able to operate office machines and equipment such as transcription equipment, computers, copy machine, hole punchers, etc.EEO Statement
