Communications Manager

Description

Plans, manages and produces communications and related materials to meet Cummins strategies and objectives.

Manages, coaches and mentors professional/hourly staff; provides guidance and direction, delegates work appropriately.

Solves unique cross-functional problems.

Leads and coaches on project, account, vendor management.

Builds, leads, and strengthens relationships with stakeholders/leaders/vendors.

Builds, leads, executes strategic communications planning (marketing promotional plan/communications plan).

Leads tactical execution of marketing and/or communications plans.

Identifies, coaches, and manages process improvement and functional excellence.

Simplifies complex messages across multiple stakeholders.

Writes, edits, and creates content and strategic messaging and adheres to relevant style guide.

Represents, adheres to, and champions Cummins brand.

Manages and maintains budget/financials.

Prepares and executes event planning and event logistics.

Leads functional trainings, creates and delivers presentations.

Sets targets for data-driven decisions; compiles, analyzes, and utilizes metrics, data, and analytics.

Understands and champions digital tools, trends, and channels with stakeholders.

Solves problems and manages cross-functional relationships.

Innovates and leads continuous improvement in their area of work.

We are looking for a talented Communications Manager to join our team specializing in Communications for our Cummins Filtration in Nashville TN / your remote home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop and executing internal and external communications strategies in partnership with leadership team
  • Work to hire, develop, and manage the support staff to aid and assist in the communication related activities
  • Directly support leadership of Cummins filtration division with communication needs
  • Work with leadership teams to impart their visions and strategies through building actionable communications plans
  • Work cross functionally across several teams across Cummins organization, while building relationships with key stakeholders both internally & externally
  • Help to build Cummins brand by providing interesting and compelling stories through creative communications management

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in communications, marketing, or a related subject required.

MBA, Master's in Communications, Master's in Marketing, or equivalent degree highly preferred.

Experience

Digital experience preferred (emerging trends, digital for business, metrics, paid vs. organic, advertising content).

Graphic design skills, visual communications channel capabilities preferred.

Global perspective and experience preferred.

Client/account management preferred.

System integration/account management for marketing roles preferred.

6 Sigma, Value Stream Transformation, continuous improvement experience preferred.

B2B experience preferred.

In this high visibility, high-impact role, you will help drive Filtration’s story and establish how we manage, plan and measure our external and internal communications activity. This role requires a storyteller; a thoughtful crafter of narrative who is able to explain complex issues in simple ways that help realize our business strategies, mission and vision throughout our strategic communications.

The ideal candidate will write and manage content creation while overseeing key aspects of external and internal communications, including executive communications, public relations, crisis communications, employee communications and content management strategy for website and social platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing the external and internal corporate communications strategy in partnership with key members of the leadership team
  • Creation and execution of the overall corporate messaging, overseeing all external and internal communications processes to ensure consistency with company strategy and our core brand identity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure proper messaging of company strategies and corporate initiatives
  • Create a cohesive and compelling narrative and distill critical messages across communication channels and audiences, presenting them in an effective and visually exciting way

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • College, or University degree in Communications or related field is preferred
  • A Masters’ degree in Communication or related field is highly desirable
  • Ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years or more working directly in a communication related position
  • Background of using tech related communication software is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
