Surgery Scheduler - CGH - Gold Beach
Under the general supervision of the Patient Care Service Director, the Surgery Scheduler is respondsible for working with specialists, patients and the Perioperative Room team to ensure cases are scheduled at Curry General Hospital. This position is also respondsible for serving as the patient liaison; facilitating all appointments, obtaining insurance authorization, managing OR block time, working closely with surgeons, surgery/clinic staff and the OR team. The Surgery Scheduler will arrange all procedure related patient appointments and testing as necessary.
Essential Functions:
Works closely with Providers and staff to maximize use of operating room “block time”; works with staff members across multiple departments including, but not limited to: Registration, Medical Records, Business Office, etc.
- Ensures that all surgical cases have insurance approval on file prior to the day of procedure. Assists with registration and billing and as needed.
- Schedules procedures and surgeries and assists PAT as necessary.
- Knows network financial policies, familiar with services that are available, refers patients to financial counselor when appropriate. Ensures documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.
- Communicates effectively and clearly to supervisor, coworkers, and patients.
- Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network’s Mission, Vision and Shared Values.
Minimum Education & Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent.
- One year in a medical office setting preferred.
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and written.
- Additional languages preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
