Position Summary

The Therapeutic Support Specialist (TSS) role performs intensive in-home and community based therapeutic supports for families involved with the Flexible Support Service programs. Team members hold the vision and goal each family holds at the core of our therapeutic work. The TSS role works as a part of a larger treatment team including a Masters Level Clinician, a Peer Support Worker and a Family partner to put treatment plans into practice. We are affirming of all identities and hold that expectation for all staff members.

Essential Position Functions

1. Provides consistent support to the families that is based on evidence-based models, emphasizing core guiding principles and philosophies, such as, Attachment Theory, Trauma Informed Care, Wraparound, Building Bridges, and Sensory Integration.

2. Works as an integral member of the therapeutic team, led by each family’s vision, values, voice, choice, hopes and strengths. The therapeutic work of the team is culturally and linguistically competent. This collaborative process includes the caregivers and youth as central to the process of co-creating therapeutic goals and interventions included in the action plan that the therapeutic support specialist uses to help guide the intervention and progress tracking processes.

3. Collaborates with families and guardians to teach parenting skills specific to the individualized needs of the youth, helps families set clear, consistent and compassionate limits, designs developmentally appropriate and attachment informed consequences/repair processes, and facilitates supportive structures to meet therapeutic goals.

4. Works with the youth and family in tracking progress and actively maintaining communication with other team members in a consistent and timely manner, both internal and external team members/vested parties from other organizations.

5. Supports the relational dynamics of the family as a unit, including building and repairing relationships with siblings.

6. Assists with engaging the client and family in community-based activities as appropriate. This could include assisting the parent with gathering information about community resources, supporting the parent in accessing natural resources or helping coach the child on social, emotional, sensory-based, and self-regulation needs and skills.

7. Collaboratively interacts with the community, family members and other treatment providers (including parent partners and peer supports) consistent with HIPAA regulations and the treatment plan.

8. Engages in the on-call rotation to support to the families and help with behavioral support, help with crisis management, and reinforce skill development, strategy utilization, and expansion of the safety tools of the family system.

9. Provides case coordination as appropriate as outlined in the treatment plan, and participates in collaboration and planning meetings with family and other providers as warranted.

10. Completes relevant documentation and billing processes using the electronic medical record system (which is in accordance with the MA standardized documentation), accurately documenting session units and interventions as applicable to therapeutic needs of the client, and the contracts associated with each client and family

11. Adheres to Cutchins Programs for Children and Families Rules, Standards, Ethics and Personnel Policies and Procedures.

12. Adheres to the FSS Performance Specifications.

13. Adheres to the guidelines established in the FFS team contractual agreements.

Other Skills or Requirements: Good verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility with schedule, and a valid driver’s license with own transportation. Good computer skills. Ability to be on call on off hours.

Physical Requirements: Ability to participate in recreational activities, effectively maneuver all sensory-based or movement based equipment and activities as needed, visual and auditory acuity to supervise clients and work with families.
