Job Description:

Client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 2 Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Outpatient Infusion to join our team in Rochester, USA. As a BMT Outpatient Infusion Float Nurse, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient infusion therapy, with a focus on BMT procedures. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient infusion therapy, including assessment, monitoring, and management of infusion-related side effects and complications.
• Administer chemotherapy, biologic therapies, and supportive medications according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring accurate dosage calculations and safe medication administration practices.
• Perform venipuncture and peripheral intravenous (IV) catheter insertion, accessing central venous access devices (CVADs) as needed for infusion therapy.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, laboratory values, and overall clinical status during infusion therapy, recognizing and responding promptly to signs of adverse reactions or complications.
• Educate patients and their families about the purpose of infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self-care strategies to promote treatment adherence and symptom management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and social workers, to develop individualized care plans and coordinate patient care activities.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families coping with the challenges of cancer treatment and BMT procedures, fostering a supportive and compassionate care environment.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize the delivery of infusion services.
• Maintain competency in infusion therapy practices, including knowledge of chemotherapy agents, biotherapy agents, and related treatment modalities, through ongoing education and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

• Valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an RN in an outpatient infusion setting, with specific experience in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) procedures preferred.
• Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or Infusion Nursing (CRNI) preferred.
• Proficiency in venipuncture and IV catheter insertion techniques, with experience accessing CVADs for infusion therapy.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage complex patient care needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care delivery.
• Flexibility to float between outpatient infusion sites and adapt to changing patient care needs as required.
