JOB POSTING – Millwork Shop – Estimator
Our architectural millwork company is seeking a Estimator. This position will review, interpret, assess architectural and interior design drawings to take-off millwork specific components and assemblies. High-level understanding of the take-off process to distinguish scope related items other than millwork, such as architectural metals, glass, stone, and fabric items. Responsible for obtaining pricing for proposals for new construction projects, renovations, change orders, and all other final cost-associated projects. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industry-related field preferred.
- Knowledge of Division 6 architectural woodwork, millwork and casework scope
- Knowledge of AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) Standards preferred.
- 3 years relative experience in commercial millwork or woodworking industry preferred.
- 3 years in lead estimator role or related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design prints and shop drawings.
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Office tools, Bluebeam and some knowledge of applicable project management software.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction plans, elevations, and sections to determine actual estimating requirements.
- Assemble architectural millwork information into itemized project scope format.
- Understand, recognize and take-off items other than millwork, such as architectural metals, glass, stone, booth seating and fabric items.
- Collaborate with project management and purchasing regarding project budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers regarding installation time studies.
- Create and manage current and archived completed estimates and construction methodology.
- Create detailed and accurate proposals.
- Create RFI questions and log for architect/designer/GC during take-off and bidding stage.
- Detail take-offs and provide quantities of certain millwork items (trims, panels, etc.) for use by purchasing department.
- Develop final project costs through use of material costs, production and finishing labor and installation
- Download and file all new electronic project data (ASIs, Spec Manuals, Prints, RFIs, etc.)
- Identify labor, material and schedule requirements by reviewing proposals, architectural prints, specifications and other related documents.
- Review and monitor project work to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and is completed on time and within budget
- Review ASIs, Bulletins, Addenda, RFIs, etc. pre-contract award for potential scope or cost implications
