Salary Min : $79,499.00

Salary Max : $145,835.00

Directs and oversees all food service site operations and student meal benefit applications. Plans, directs, manages and oversees districtwide school food service operations to ensure that program needs are identified, resourced, implemented, and supported.

Responsible for oversight of compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and quality assurance of school meal programs.

Major functions include analysis of site operations, oversight of district and department procedures, policy implementation, and student meal participation for effective and efficient program operations.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • The development and implementation of management systems, policies and procedures to measure and monitor school-site receipt, of food and non-food supplies, and labor allocations for effective operations.
  • Responsible for development and analysis of statistical data reports in the areas of labor, inventory use and of food use, orders, inventory and costs, payroll distribution, sales, inventory, and student meal participation.

Directs staff regarding implementation of required key performance indicators for the department.

  • Develops and maintains compliance review reports and reporting systems for multi-location food service operations in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Directs the department and district policies, procedures, processing and management of family applications for federal meal benefits, verification and data matching for direct certifications.
  • Serves as the department liaison to other school system functions and matters relating to food service operations of federal child nutrition programs.
  • Recommends appropriate assignment of oversight and staffing for effective school food service operations and site performance.
  • Coordinates responses to audit findings through the department.
  • Conducts meetings with District and school site administrators for effective operational policies and procedures and compliance requirements for effective school food service programs.
  • Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This work requires the following physical activities : climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.

The work is performed primarily indoors and outdoors and requires frequent in-county travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Food Service Management, Public Health Management, Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field.

Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibility in school food service management and administrative experience or work experience in the food and nutrition operations section of a large school district, hospitality services or institutional food services management;

or a certified registered dietician and minimum of four (4) years of progressive responsibility in school food service management and administrative experience.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
