Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welding Technician to join our team. As a Welding Technician, you will be responsible for determining correct setup, coaching & training on a variety of welding tasks, such as fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal components and structures. Your expertise in different welding techniques and ability to interpret technical drawings will be crucial in ensuring the quality and precision of our welded products. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to contribute to the successful completion of projects while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Be able to perform various welding operations, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding, on metal components and structures according to specifications and technical drawings. Transfer your knowledge to others on correct setup through coaching & training.
- Verify set up and operation of welding equipment, ensuring proper settings and adjustments for each project.
- Conduct inspections of welds to identify defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and giving feedback through coaching and training, as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding procedures to understand project requirements and specifications. Coach & train others to do the same.
- Knowledge of preparation and cleaning of materials to be welded, ensuring proper fitment and alignment prior to welding. Coach & train others to do the same.
- Monitor welding supplies and equipment inventory and report any shortages or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Drive the maintenance of a safe and organized work environment, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to address welding-related issues and provide technical insights for continuous improvement.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of all welding staff as needed.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulations, promoting a culture of safety and quality.
Qualifications

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational or technical training in welding is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Welding Technician, Trainer or in a similar welding role.
- Proficient in various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures.
- Familiarity with different types of metals, their properties, and appropriate welding methods for each.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and procedures.
- Physical ability to lift and manipulate heavy materials and tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new welding techniques and technologies.
- Must be weld certified through Dakota Bodies within 30 days of start date.
- Support off shifts, as needed.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME) would be advantageous.
- Experience in welding inspection and quality control.
