PURPOSE: The Dallas Mavericks seek a Design intern to join the Mavericks Creative Studio in communicating the team’s visual brand. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the design team in producing a wide array of digital and print materials that service the needs of all departments. The intern will develop their ability to communicate and will have the opportunity to provide effective design solutions for advertising, branding, and game presentation graphics. In addition, the design intern will enable the Studio to perform at their peak by managing brand assets, conducting design research and handling urgent needs with a high degree of flexibility. The Dallas Mavericks Creative Studio takes ownership of the Mavericks brand by ensuring an exciting and cohesive visual identity across all marketing platforms. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Jr. or 4-year college with a preferred concentration in Visual Communications or related field. If applying for college credit you must be able to provide proof that credit will be earned toward your course of study (from school/registrar).
- Must work creatively and proactively in a team environment
- File management and organizational skills a must
- Working knowledge of Adobe CC InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

- Experience in logo design, copy and photo/advertisement layout, photo selection and cutouts
- Ability to proofread copy
- Fundamental understanding of typography
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to visually communicate ideas from concept to execution
- Experience translating creative strategy into direction, design and presentation
- Self-motivated and flexible
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with competing priorities
- Time management and ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment a must
Portfolio should represent a range of design styles and diversity of projects. Candidate will be evaluated on skills and portfolio.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide fundamental graphic support to the creative marketing team
- Develop, update and manage existing files and marketing materials
- Research sports design trends and present findings
- Aid with concept development for a variety of advertising and marketing material
- Create corporate sponsor & ticket sales materials
- Respond to urgent communication needs
- Initiate template ideas for recurring projects
- Assist in creating various signage, logo design, fan collateral items
- Design layouts for print, digital, out of home, and apparel
- Communicate with project owners to understand objectives
- Maintain a high level of creative execution
