What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Engineer position at Dana Corp?
Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets - passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
We have an immediate opening for a Product Engineer in Dana's Core Product Engineering Group. This person will participate in the design release and application of electro-mechanical devices (electric oil pumps, motors).
* Responsible for developing and providing "Best in Class" products, for our customers globally.
* Perform all product development and validation activities including: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), prototype builds, DV/PV testing, design for manufacturing, and key supplier development.
* Initiate and Lead Product / Process Improvements with Suppliers
* Work with suppliers to improve design for manufacturing and assembly.
* Evaluate and provide disposition of engineering change requests and deviation requests.
* Develop and support cost savings initiatives and supplier complexity reduction strategies.
* Provide technical support to Applications Engineering during all phases of vehicle development including: pre-sourcing, vehicle validation, product validation, vehicle start of production (SOP), and post-SOP.
* Communicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions - Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Test Lab, Quality, Warranty, and Engineering Management.
* Prepare and conduct technical presentations (Customer and Dana internal)
* Prepare and present test reports confirming requirements have been met.
* Analyze warranty data and develop effective counter measures.
* Support Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* 1 years' experience in designing and releasing components and/or assemblies.
* Experience in writing design specifications
* Developing and completing product validation plans.
* Preferred experience in designing and releasing electro-mechanical devices.
* Preferred experience in electric oil pumps, oil pumps, hydraulic actuators
* Understanding and experience working with DFMEAs, DVP&R, APQP
* Willingness and ability to work extended or irregular hours when necessary.
* Must be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual with strong program management/follow-up skills who is willing to accept multiple responsibilities.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
