QC Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is critical to maintaining and ensuring the quality of the finished product that we ship to our customers.  As the gate keeper for everything that leaves the factory, this associate plays a critical role in enforcing our high-quality standards through the production floor; mistakes at this level result in warranty claims and unhappy customers.  As such, a successful candidate in this position is detail oriented, methodical, and observant.  Normal duties include but are not limited to X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) product operation, analyzer calibration and quality control (QC), documentation of test results, data input for QC records, general troubleshooting of QC issues, and daily communication with team members regarding issues pertaining to QC.

Responsibilities:

• QC and calibration of XRF analyzer products prior to shipment and final inspection of product to meet visual/safety requirements.

• Final QC on all new and internal service analyzers (includes demo and loaner instruments).

• Maintains outgoing product documentation for ISO compliance and quality records.

• Follows detailed work instructions, completes data entry for process travelers, and documents any relevant production test data.

• Proper escalation and documentation of any production or QC issues to the Quality team to ensure timely resolution.

• Sample preparation for taking QC measurements on our products including some light assembly operations.

• Manages WIP in the QC cell.

• Participates in daily reporting through visual management and meetings to communicate and escalate issues with performance metrics – SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) at Tier 1

• Supports XOS quality policies by adhering to 5S, following detailed process traveler, and documenting all relevant information within the manufacturing and or test cycles.

• Maintains workstation cleanliness and operational effectiveness of alignment and assembly work areas.

• Ensures inventory accuracy through performance of cycle counts as needed.  Held accountable for Kanban replenishment in the course of daily work.

• Good at working independently while multitasking.

• Must be able to work with patience, follow detail procedures and use those procedures to make pass/fail decisions at critical points within the QC processes.  Work is prescribed and completed with close supervision.

• Good recordkeeping skills with high attention to detail.  Comfortable working with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

• With training, performs basic ERP transactions

• With supervision and direction, can work for long periods of time at multiple computer stations with minimal errors.

Desired Skills/Experience:  (List of valued, but not required skills and experience)

0-2 years’ experience in a Quality Control position or working directly with QC systems and processes.

Education: (List of required Education, Certifications, Training)

B.S. in Physics or Engineering is preferred.  B.S. in other STEM fields considered or student pursuing said degree.
