Responsibilities:
This is an R&D hands-on function responsible for collaborating with scientists, product managers and customers in the development of novel chemistries, workflows and applications with LCMS and associated instrumentation, including but not limited to sample preparation methodologies and automation of sample preparation. The person will be responsible for understanding customers’ needs and routine operations to help guide the development of technologies that address customers’ needs.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Planning, organization and execution of independent research that includes conception, implementation and experimental evaluation of new chemistries and improved workflows using mass spectroscopy.
- Collaborating with Hardware research team for evaluating new hardware for innovative workflows.
- Carrying out, completing and communicating the results of original and independent research in the form of peer-reviewed publications, invention disclosures and presentations
- Troubleshooting and creative problem solving in analytical chemistry and customer related problems in a multidisciplinary team.
- Carrying out tasks related to new product development and providing support in design transfer to manufacturing
- Providing scientific and technical support to customers and collaborators.
- Providing technical support to LCMS Reagents manufacturing team
Qualifications:
- The position requires resourcefulness, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and broad experience spanning analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry.
- Expertise in sample preparation, analysis, separation and quantification of large (proteins) and small molecules by LC-MS is required.
- Experience with trouble shooting of LC and MS instruments and Software within the overall workflow is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work well within a cross functional team environment.
