Alterations Clerk

Dapper & Dashing is disrupting the time-tested formalwear retail space and looking for an Alterations Clerk who is passionate about delivering quality work in an agile environment and wants to be part of curating our customers' most important memories.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

As an Alterations Clerk, you will perform a variety of operational tasks to support the execution of alterations in the production department, including the hemming of formal wear products.

You will...

• Perform quality alterations on merchandise.
• Follow ticket instructions and markings based on customer specifications.
• Meet deadlines and customer expectations for merchandise alterations.
• Perform quality alterations on formal wear trousers and coats.
• Press, steam, and spot clean garments/merchandise as necessary.
• Follow quality control guidelines and inspect all garments to verify pristine condition before final delivery to customer.
• Ensure preventative maintenance of equipment and report any damage or broken equipment immediately.
• Ability to move throughout the processing center, lift up to 10 pounds, reach over head, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, stand, bend, squat, and sit at your workstation for extended periods of time.
• Use company provided sewing machine and supplies to perform alterations.
• Measure and mark alteration lines.
• Pin altering folds or mark on cloth at seam to indicate alterations in progress.
• Remove stitches from garment, using ripper or razor blade.
• Resew merchandise using needle and thread or sewing machine.
• Press merchandise, using a hand iron or steamer.
• Repair defective merchandise.
• Remove spots or stains from merchandise.
• Uphold specified productivity guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized and stocked work area and inform a leader when additional supplies are needed.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.

You have...

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred.
• 1-2 years of alterations experience, preferred.
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
• Ability to adapt and quickly learn new processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot solutions.
• Ability to foster a positive working environment.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.
• Ability to promote a safe and healthy work atmosphere.
• Ability to think critically and influence business outcomes.
• Ability to model good time management and record keeping skills.
• Strong attention to detail and an in-depth understanding of fabrics.
• Ability to maintain a safe work environment while working with tools, including proper storage when not in use.
