Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing department inventory, in-stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to company standards. The Department Head/PIC is responsible for the supervision of department associates. Also responsible for running the store in the absence of the assistant manager.



Job Duties/Responsibilities

1)   Follows the Company sales and production planning standards and ensures that the department achieves the standards of performance as outlined in the work plan.

2)   Plans, orders, prepare merchandise lists, and processes merchandise according to the work plan and standards to maximize sales and gross profit.

3)   Ensures correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays.

4)    Provides support to department associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise.

5)   Assists with the development of strategies to improve customer service and increase profitability.

6)   Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved and service is quick and efficient.

7)   Promotes the safety of employees and customers by following best practices and regulatory standards.

8)   Assists with the supervision of staff to include recruitment, evaluating performance, training, and disciplinary actions when needed.

9)   Performs other related duties as assigned.

10) Abides by the mission, policies and procedures of Darlow’s Quality Foods.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job. 

 

Education/Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must:

·      2 years or more experience in a related field required

·      Associate’s degree in a related area preferred

·      Successfully pass a criminal background check.

 

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

·      Frequently sit, walk, grasp, reach, stand, talk, or hear. 

·      Frequently stoop, crouch, lift or pull/push up to 30 lbs.

·      Clearly see 20 feet as well as close vision, with or without corrective lenses.

 

Mental & Other Skills/Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the:

·      Adaptability: ability to adapt to changes, delays or unexpected events in the work environment

·      Computer/Technical Ability:  working knowledge of: working knowledge of: Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Internet software

·      Dependability: ability to follow instructions, both in written and verbal format; ability to respond to management direction; ability to complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan when necessary. Meet expectations as set forth in attendance policy.

·      Interpersonal Skills: ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with others, excellent customer service skills and an ability to act in a supportive team environment.

·      Mathematical Ability: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

·      Motor Coordination: the ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, and feet accurately and handle precise movements.

·      Problem Solving Ability: ability to identify and/or prevent problems before they occur; ability to formulate alternative solutions to problems when necessary; ability to transfer learning from past experiences to new experiences of similar nature.

·      Quality Management: ability to complete duties, on time and with absolute precision, at least 95% of the time; ability to edit the accuracy and thoroughness of one’s work as well as the work of others; ability to constructively apply feedback to improve performance, ability to generate ideas to improve and promote quality in work.

·      Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

·      Supervisory Skills: Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Applicable supervisory responsibilities include:

o  interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching employees

o  planning, assigning and directing work

o  reviewing performance

o  appraising/disciplining employees when necessary

o  addressing complaints and questions and resolving problems


Workplace Environmental Conditions

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee may be:

·      Noise Conditions: exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at a low level.

·      Injury Exposure: not exposed to workplace hazards more frequently than normal.
