The Koselig House of Deforest, an assisted living and memory community, is looking for someone who shows their love through the preparation and serving of food. We are in need of someone who is full of joy and values creativity in the kitchen. This applicant must be responsible, detail oriented, reliable and enjoy laughter. Job Duties:

• Prepare and serve meals according to DHS 83 regulations
• Assists in the inventory and receiving of all food and supplies as required
• Follow and prepare meals in accordance with corporate menus/recipes and with resident dietary considerations
• Follow Standard Precautions when prepping/serving including appropriate temperatures, cleanliness, storage and palatability to ensure the prevention of food borne illnesses
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen - free from cross-contamination and infectious disease
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the director immediately
• Maintain a clean working environment including dish area
• This position requires standing and walking continuously throughout the working day, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, and manipulating various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment. It requires visual acuity and color discrimination for examining cooked and stored foods, and taste and smell discrimination in determining nutritional quality and palatability of foods. The cook must be free from infection or disease, have the ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents, and be able to be exposed to temperature and humidity changes in the kitchen. The cook must be able to lift and/or carry 25 to 50 pounds.

Must be available to work every other weekend and every other holiday. Priority will be given to those with experience working in long term care; particularly CBRF.
