Overview
Collects, displays, and monitors patient care data. Provides information to internal and external customers. Manages database and reporting functions.
Responsibilities
Reviews, abstracts and inputs clinical data concerning a broad range of patient cohorts and clinical conditions.
Assists in the development of criteria for measuring quality. Coordinates data collection and compilation activities as appropriate.
Provides oversight for multiple departmental databases and is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of these databases.
Resolves identified problems both at case level and as a participant in a group to improve processes and/or communication.
Designs formats for data collection. Interprets, documents, and displays data in an appropriate format (graphical, statistical, and/or written summary).
Communicates with clinical staff concerning documentation and facilitates resolution of appropriateness and quality concerns as needed.
Conducts special statistical studies on request. Compiles monthly and annual summary reports and pattern analyses summaries as required.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent database and clinical experience.
4 years of experience in database management required. Relational database experience preferred.
Quality assurance, continuous improvement and data collection experience desirable.
Knowledge of computer technology highly preferred.
