Overview
Prepares plans for projects utilizing the CADD workstation and manual design techniques.
Responsibilities
- Prepares construction documents for project work, including instructions that accurately describe the work involved and material to be used.
- Provides field verification of pertinent information such as field measurements and ensuring existing conditions are known during the preparation of construction documents in relation to an area that is to undergo renovations.
- Organizes and maintains the plan room. Performs daily checks to ensure that all plans, shop drawings, and manuals are filed appropriately.
- Initiates and conducts interviews with user groups to review in detail all design requirements necessary to produce preliminary and final constriction documents. Provides input in the planning of revisions to approved construction document.
- Provides information and technical data concerning as-built conditions or new constriction to all authorized personnel requesting such information.
- Becomes knowledgeable of and assists management in the annual revision of the Condominium Document and the Departmental Gross Square Footage Book. Obtains space allocations and calculations for all areas.
- Provides assistance and training to all secondary users of the CADD system in the production of construction documents, as-built revisions and the production of MEP drawings.
- Maintains current and accurate wall drawings in compliance with requirements.
- Maintains collection of installed finishes, and research options when finishes become unavailable. Maintains a seat on the aesthetics committee and project work group, to keep apprised of major finish chances and appropriate locations for use of finishes.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in drafting/surveying/architecture with 5 years of experience in drafting/design of building infrastructure/systems.
- Requires strong communication and presentation skills, strategy design capabilities, and ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with key personnel at various levels within the organization.
- Must have a thorough understanding of architectural and MEP standards and practices.
- Working knowledge of all Life Safety Codes, AIDA requirements, and ICC codes required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Obtains and maintains current International Code Council Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner certification for compliance with the International Building Code Accessibility codes.
