Your Mission:
- Having expert level experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Works and leads/mentors others on complex to very complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Leads and mentors others to analyze, design, program, and debug solutions to customize software used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs to meet specific customer needs.
- Provides in depth consulting and recommendations on solutions whilst interacting with users (including external customers) to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
- Networks with key contacts within the delivery unit and outside their own area of expertise.
- Provides leadership in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Independently ensures delivery of multiple complex tickets to timelines and quality, manages internal communications cross functionally. Any risks to delivery are managed independently as required.
- Works on Team Initiatives to grow team and Technical Services, as defined by Senior Manager.
- Mentor and lead junior Software Engineers as needed.
- Determines estimates and timelines for delivery.
- Lead a delivery unit managing incoming assignments, backlog and resource allocation, including resource forecasting working with Market Segment Leads/Senior Managers.
- Responsible for team's adherence to timelines, due dates and turn around times.
- Provide status and overview of delivery unit activities to TS management team as required.
- Communicates delivery timelines, estimates, and manages escalations to Professional Services team with limited support from manager.
- Develops and leads initiatives to grow team and Technical Services.
- Develops Processes & Procedures for Delivery Unit with support from manager.
- Represents Technical Services in Medidata initiatives, outside of Technical Services.
- Schedules and/or conducts peer review on specifications and code.
- Reviews and approves documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance

Your Competencies:
- Consulting / professional services experience strongly preferred
- 5 years expert level transactional SQL development experience
- 5 years experience in a production software development and testing environment
- 3 years in a customer facing role overseeing customer deliverables
- 3 years leading onshore and offshore software development and testing teams
- Life Sciences experience is strongly preferred, with intimate knowledge of clinical systems (CTMS, EDC, CDM, randomization, coding, drug supply, etc.)
- Rave experience preferred
- College / university degree preferably in computer science, information systems or mathematics
- Typically 8 years of industry/work experience with a bachelor's degree,
- 2 years managerial experience required

Your Education & Experience:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree and minimum of 6 years of related experience, or a PhD and minimum of 4 years related experience.

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City / New Jersey. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City / New Jersey, may differ based on the local market data in that region.

The base salary pay range for this position is $135,000 to $180,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
