Full Or Part-Time Peer Specialist: Mental Health/Crisis Units [Position # 1028]
The DLC Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU) provide high-impact, transformative and imperative care to those who might not otherwise have access to mental health rehabilitation resources.
POSITION DETAILS:
- Providing 1-to-1 mental health support within the CSU and CCSU, as well as in the community.
- Directly assisting Peers as they receive care in units, work on treatment/discharge plans and begin to explore re-entry into daily life.
- Working directly with Providers, Nurses, Clinicians, Behavioral Health Technicians and Support Staff in Acute Care.
- Reviewing cases, issues and questions promptly with Supervisor.
- Documenting Peer progress and other required details in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Maintaining appropriate boundaries with Peers and assuring confidentiality.
- Attending all supervision, hearing and treatment planning meetings.
- Supporting Peers to make personal choices that both drive and define their mental health wellness.
- Focusing on each Peer as an individual and not their diagnosis.
- Responding appropriately to risk indicators to ensure the safety and welfare of all Peers.
- Exploring all available DLC services and community resources as well as linking Peers with those that are appropriate for their total wellness.
- Networking with other agencies to ensure complete Peer support.
- Behaving ethically, communicating efficiently, making decisions smoothly and demonstrating flexibility in daily accomplishments with Peers.
- Other duties as required by Supervisor.
TO JOIN OUR ELITE PEER & CSU TEAMS:
- High School Diploma/GED = Required
- Mental Health Peer Specialist Certification = Preferred NOT Required
- Personally lived experience with Mental Health recovery = Required
- Bilingual = Preferred
- Professional experience working in mental health/behavioral health/residential/inpatient/substance use disorders = Required
- Current State of Florida Driver's License with clean record = Required
- Demonstrated abilities in the proper management of time, communication and information = Required
- Natural ability to work well with a diverse group of clients, coworkers and community partners = Required
- Microsoft Office 365 (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) Electronic Medical Record = Strongly Preferred
- Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations = Required
- Ability to pass a Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check = Required
