The Human Resources Generalist will serve as the HR Business Partner supporting the Distribution Center and office located in Lyndhurst, NJ through employee relations, talent acquisition – inclusive of all employee life cycle admin, legal compliance, and creating an engaging, positive and safe employee work environment. The population is comprised of 100 non-exempt and exempt employees in the areas of Logistics, Shipping and Receiving, Quality Control, Customer Care, Repairs & Returns, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance and other support functions like IT, Loss Prevention and Facilities.
Responsibilities
- Act as an advisor to employees in the interpretation of HR policies and procedures. Answer associate questions and assist in resolution of issues.
- Manage talent acquisition processes for all hourly, salaried, and seasonal employees, including preparation of job descriptions, sourcing, screening, interviewing, background checks, offers, and onboarding/offboarding.
- Coordination of temporary employees and agencies as needed. Manage temporary employee process, process invoices for payment, and monitor budget accordingly.
- Manage tracking of employee information in Oracle Fusion system and HR employee files. Complete all employee system transactions (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, etc.), ensure HR files are up to date and legally compliant.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to managers regarding staffing, terminations, coaching & counseling, training, compensation and benefits.
- Act as a key partner in the performance review process. Partner with NJ management teams to assess potential and performance of team members. Develop and maintain a strategic partnership with DC managers.
- Partner with leaders to determine new hire offers.
- Facilitate the resolution of employee relations issues as they arise. Document issues as necessary to protect the company from litigation, partnering with legal and the People and Culture team.
- Conduct employee relations investigations as necessary. Provide summation of facts to management team and provides recommendations on course of action.
- Monitor attrition and risk analysis for DC population. Regularly conduct reviews of department to assess morale. Prepare NJ turnover reporting as needed.
- Manage the employee exit process, analyzing turnover to detect trends which may indicate changes in employee morale. Conduct exit interviews to assess and gain feedback.
- Conduct training and timely roll-out of company programs as needed.
- Provide effective methods of communication, enabling employees to have access to relevant changes and updates to company and NJ information in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Partner with LP and Facilities to ensure that all OSHA standards are met and observed and that all annual training and reporting is complete.
Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting a Distribution Center preferred.
- Knowledge of New Jersey state and federal employment laws.
- Experience recruiting in the New Jersey market for nonexempt and exempt positions.
- Effective conflict resolution and communication skills.
- Collaborative with a strong ability to establish and maintain relationships across all levels and functions of the organization. Positive customer service oriented attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, Oracle HCM preferred.
- Outstanding oral and written business communication skills.
- Comfortable working with change. Flexible and able to problem solve.
- Experience in a start-up or reorganization setting preferred.
- Passion for the David Yurman brand and product.
- Able to work independently yet knows when to partner.
- Bi-lingual or proficiency in Spanish preferred.
- Must be fully vaccinated.
