What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at DBI SERVICES?
The position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipment under the direction of the Shop Manager. Including mechanical build & repairs, maintain diesel and gasoline equipment, completes inspections and preventive maintenance requirements by correcting vehicle deficiencies, maintains proper records of repairs and practices shop safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prioritizes and works on projects needing immediate attention
- Performs repairs and assemble mechanical components as directed
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
- Performs oil changes, tire rotations, and belt changes of company vehicles
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules, installing component and part updates and controlling corrosion
- Repairs gas and diesel equipment from brakes to electrical wiring, including hydraulics and engine repair
- Checks and repairs air conditioning, computer and electronic systems
- Repairs exhaust, brakes, hydraulic, electrical suspension and fuel ignition of vehicles and equipment
- Conducts repairs on heavy equipment, agricultural and commercial vehicles
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
- Conducts field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
- Inspects machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
- Assists in fabrication of new equipment and new builds as directed
- Performs maintenance and or repairs on miscellaneous equipment
- Properly test equipment after repairs
- May assist in purchasing parts as needed to complete repairs in a cost effective manner
- May assist with reordering of parts efficiently for restocking and warranty purposes
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
- Replenishes fluids and components of engines and machinery
- Keeps logs of work and report on issues
- Contains costs by using warranties and evaluating service and parts options
- Provides consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
- Uses and maintain shop tools in a proper manner
- Operates equipment, vehicle and tools properly and safely
- Maintains a clean and safe environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
