KAT Wholesale Outdoor, located in the Kansas City area, and Brehob, with two locations in Indiana, are known for our expansive selection of premium-quality plant material and hardscaping products offered exclusively to landscapers and contractors.
This dynamic role presents a unique opportunity for a Sales Hunter with a hunger for success to excel in a fast-paced and competitive environment. As a Territory Sales Specialist, your primary objective will be to prospect, develop, and maintain new business in your assigned territory, while delivering an exceptional level of service and surpassing sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales and Revenue Generation: Execute on strategies to achieve sales targets within a sales territory
- New Customer Acquisition: Identify, prospect, and generate new business throughout assigned market
- Solution Based Selling: Closing quotes using solution-based tactics as well as negotiating terms and conditions to secure profitable outcomes
Essential Job Duties: These are specific, non-negotiable tasks/behaviors and should be in support of the Key Responsibilities listed above.
- Proactively cold call potential leads to establish new sales opportunities and expand our customer base
- Visit landscapers, re-wholesalers, and garden centers to build new relationships and identify promising sales prospects
- Ensure top-notch customer satisfaction by promptly following up on orders, handling inquiries, and efficiently processing orders
- Utilize upselling techniques and offer product substitutions to increase market share with both new and existing customers
- Bid on projects received via fax, email, or website, and maintain diligent follow-up with customers to boost conversion rates
- Efficiently track and follow up on open orders, utilizing outlook calendars to schedule customer pick-up and deliveries
- Enhance customer understanding of DCA Outdoor products and services through engaging tours of our nurseries.
- Announce special promotions to customers and diligently follow up on promotions communicated via HubSpot.
- Participate in trade shows, showcasing your skills at the booth to strengthen existing customer relationships, establish new ones, sell plant material, and promote our promotions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and offering within wholesale landscape industry
- Sales hunter mindset with familiarity of various sales techniques, including negotiations tactics and objecting handling
- Ability to adapt sales approaches based on customer motivations
- Ability to interpret sales data and use it to navigate complex sales discussions
- Self-motivator with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Possess a strong commitment to ethical conduct in all sales-related duties
- Exceptional adaptability to navigate various customer personalities and changing market conditions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business Administration, OR 6-8 years' experience in high volume outside territory sales and account management
- Required: Travel throughout territory of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa
- Preferred: Bilingual English and Spanish skills
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in a nursery, landscape industry, or related field
- Preferred: 1-2 years if Salesforce; Tableau and PowerBi are a bonus
