DeCoach Recovery Services is a leading provider of comprehensive addiction recovery services, offering Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), substance use and mental health counseling, peer support, case management, court services, and supportive treatment housing. Our approach to recovery is holistic, emphasizing a trauma-informed care model that addresses the root causes of addiction and promotes long-term healing and wellness.
Position: Receive all diagnostic assessments and provider treatment records and enter information into central database system (Carelogic). Triage referrals, gather information as needed, communicate with clients and caseworkers for appointment scheduling.
Location/Hours: Xenia, OH; 8:00am - 4:30pm
As a Substance Use Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping individuals struggling with substance use disorders. You will work within a team environment, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, to provide compassionate care and support to clients. You will work towards breaking down barriers to recovery and saving lives by providing counseling, education, and guidance to clients as they navigate the challenges of addiction and work towards recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients struggling with substance use disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other counselors, to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for clients.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and social and environmental factors that may impact their recovery journey.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups to provide clients with information and tools to manage triggers, cravings, and develop coping skills to maintain sobriety.
- Monitor and document clients' progress, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and provide timely reports to the team and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in case conferences and team meetings to review cases, develop treatment strategies, and provide input on the client's overall care plan.
- Advocate for clients' needs and work towards breaking down barriers to recovery, such as stigma, lack of resources, and social determinants of health.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies, including overdose or relapse situations, and implement appropriate interventions to ensure clients' safety.
- Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in the field of substance use disorders, and contribute to the development of the team's clinical protocols and policies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to cultural competency, diversity, and inclusivity, and provide culturally sensitive care to clients from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications:
- A degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field. (LSW, LCDC II, LCDC III)
- Valid licensure as a substance use counselor or mental health professional, in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use disorder treatment, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with clients, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Strong assessment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and adapt to changing client needs and treatment approaches.
- Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession.
