Orients patients to the facility, takes admission vital signs and records on the Nursing Assessment Form.
Provides general nursing care, i.e., transferring patients, assisting with ADLs.
Facilitates group activities or assist the psychiatric technicians in facilitation of activities.
Provides feedback to the treatment team regarding patient changes, participation of group, or other pertinent items that can affect their stay and care.
Continuously observes patients' behavior, mental status and activities, notifies RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.
Demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention.
Escorts patients for activities and scheduled tests.
Able to perform patient safety checks at scheduled times, documents appropriately.
Responsible for monitoring patients if needed for higher level of care.
Able to assist with restraining a patient, placing a patient in seclusion.
Assists with therapeutic groups under the direction of the RN.
Participates in patient care conferences when needed.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to the nursing supervisor, Director of Nursing, RNs and physicians.
Demonstrates the ability to set limits for patients and other de-escalation techniques.
Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, provides emotional support.
Is responsible for the milieu and management of the environment under the supervision of the RN.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Completes ordering of patient care supplies when needed under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
Assist with clerical functions when delegated from RN.
Operates equipment safely and correctly.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with the other departments of the facility.
Orients new staff members to the staff and participates in orientation process and serves as a preceptor for new hired psychiatric technicians.
Demonstrates the ability to be organized and flexible, acts appropriately in stressful/emergency situations.
Demonstrates knowledge of group structure and programming.
Demonstrates ability to document patient participation and response in groups.
Demonstrates ability to work as a team member.
Acts decisively and effectively in managing staff and patients during emergency situations.
Reports programming issues and concerns directly to the program director.
Conducts groups as assigned.
Assists in training staff how to facilitate groups.
Assists program director as needed in group preparation and special programming.
Performs other duties as assigned.
