Introduction of GDS Team
US Tax Global Deployment Strategy team, aims to optimize global nature and network of Tax, keeping our clients and our people top priorities. Our diverse and experienced team will continue to provide seamless operations and support the current assignees and optimize global experiences to support US Tax, maintain global teaming efforts, and engage with global Tax leaders. As the Tax business environment continues to shift, agility in global deployment models and pipeline development remain critical.
Overview of Role
The GDS Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and facilitation of strategic deployment programs specifically for US professionals traveling around the world on cross border deployments (Assignments, Projects, business travels, and development / experience programs), including processes, policies, and protocols, as well as act as an advisor to business and collaborating with the various internal Enabling Area groups such as Talent, Global Mobility, and Immigration.
You will work in a national team based in the US and USI, draw on experience to lead and drive projects, provide business advisory, and coordinate with immigration and global mobility teams to provide guidance to professionals during deployment, as well as leverage data to actively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of deployment program delivery. Additional responsibilities will include:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage US outbound deployment programs (global and USI) and oversee day to day operations under these programs
- Manage connectivity and relationships with Tax leaders based in both US and India
- Learn and execute established processes on GDS team related to practitioners interested in a global deployment (including business case process management), current assignees, and repatriates for whom the GDS team continues connectivity
- Educate the practice on strategic and operational changes within the deployment programs; including changes to processes, policies, mobility, and immigration landscape
- Coordinate closely on deployments between US and USI (ranging from short-term rotations to long-term assignments) through connectivity with key stakeholder groups and other supporting teams.
- Establishes analytical frameworks and conducts complex business analysis related to global assignees
- Conducts research related to global mobility market trends
- Manages relationship with global assignees at the Tax Manager and Senior Manager level who are on either short term or long-term assignments.
- Research solutions, frameworks, and methodologies to address specific project needs
- Prepares Executive Level presentations and reports supported by completed analyses
- Coordinates activities with other stakeholder groups including Tax business leaders and related Enabling Area support groups (e.g., Global Mobility, Immigration, OGC, Firm Tax, Risk, etc.)
- Coordinate GDS team calls, agendas, and connectivity points between GDS and Global Mobility teams
- Actively manage GDS team project plan
- Ability to work with colleagues in USI and oversee team members based in both US and USI
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid and virtual team environment in various time zones as required
- Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Teams
- Tableau and Visio knowledge is an advantage
- Outstanding analytical, research and presentation skills
- Strong writing skills, including executive communications, content development for various internal sites, and process document development capabilities
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
- Ability to synthesize large sets of data and integrate into meaningful reports and recommendations

- Should be comfortable with speaking to large audiences both virtually and in person as the role would find themselves presenting in larger groups.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- One of the following accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Global Professional in HR (GPHR) or similar accreditation is preferred
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required and MBA would be preferred
- More than 5 years of related Global Mobility experience, managing Global Deployments or relevant experience required
