The Deloitte TMT Center is recruiting a Research Manager for our Technology Practice. We are looking for a professional researcher with deep knowledge of the technology industry, a keen interest in emerging technologies and the business models they enable.

Work you'll do
The Research Manager will work closely with the TMT Center's Executive Director and Deloitte's senior practice leaders to develop research that influences the market, and commands the attention of senior tech, media, and telecommunications executives. You'll use quantitative research surveys, interviews, and secondary research to create insights and tell a story. You'll share those insights through in-depth research reports, short articles, bylines, internal and external presentations, interviews, videos, podcasts, infographics, and webinars.
The role in detail:
- Possess and maintain excellent knowledge of technology trends in the U.S. and globally.
- Write original and insightful thought leadership in multiple formats.
- Lead and manage research projects from ideation through execution.
- Develop unique insights from surveys and other data sets, working with TMT Center data analysis.
- Conduct qualitative research, including interviews, case studies, and scenario development.
- Integrate vendor research, third-party interviews, and publicly available information into research projects.
- Build effective working relationships and network with practice leadership and subject matter experts within Deloitte and the marketplace.
- Collaborate with Deloitte executives, subject matter specialists, marketing, and PR.
- Be able to work with, manage, and mentor a research-driven team/researchers on complex projects.
Qualifications
Required experience and capabilities:
- At least 5 years of experience in research and thought leadership focused on technology at the following types of companies: consulting firm; research firm; tech company; professional services firm; or financial institution. Investigative journalists with strong experience writing long-form, analytical articles are welcome to apply.
- Deep knowledge of technology, and the discipline to stay ahead of fast-moving trends. Ability to quickly grasp and explain how technological and social change can create new business opportunities for tech companies.
- Excellent and highly productive communicator. Strong writing skills and publication history as sole or primary author of an extensive portfolio of thought leadership publications. Ability to synthesize complex trends and explain them in clear, concise, vibrant prose or data visualization. Writing samples required.
- Deep experience using qualitative, and secondary research methods.
- Strong experience incorporating data and analysis into original points of view.
- Proven project manager, with track record of completing complex projects on time.
- Poised presenter and communicator with experience presenting work to senior executives and/or interviewing executives for podcasts and videos.
- Conscientious, hard-working, and deadline-driven to manage simultaneous tasks/projects.
- Ability to work independently in virtual teams.
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
