Medical language specialist who interprets, transcribes and edits dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Performs varied and additional duties as assigned by Director.
Position Responsibilities:
- Accurately interprets and transcribes dictation from physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Accurately edits speech recognized reports from physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Operates computer, transcription and dictation software applications in order to complete assignments.
- Distributes transcribed reports to appropriate destinations, whether manually or electronically.
- Meets quality and productivity standards/deadlines.
- Follows policies and procedures which contribute to the efficiency of the medical transcription/medical records department.
- Participates in the evaluation/selection of assignments, publications and other reference material.
- Assists, as needed, with other functions of the department.
