Position Summary Information

Responsibilities
Delta State University is searching for dynamic individuals to lead and facilitate the operations of our new Office of University Services! This new office is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and essential services to our students. This new office will oversee five (5) areas for the University and the Division of Student Affairs:
  • Housing Administration, Assignments, and Facilities
  • Residential Education, Learning, and Staffing
  • Sorority & Fraternity Recruitment, Retention, and Risk
  • Student Conduct & Community Support
  • Union and Student Programming


Under the direct supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, this office will offer a wide range of services to help students thrive and meet them where they are during their time at Delta State. To better serve our student body, this new office will be staffed from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every weekday.

If you are passionate about student programming and assisting students in their educational exploration outside the classroom, the University welcomes you to apply for this Union and Student Programming program manager position. This position will be expected to address the following job expectations:
  • Developing and implementing programming, training, and schedule of events for clubs and organizations
  • Supervising and enforcing policies related to student organizations
  • Coordinating and updating Okra Entertainment’s social media platforms and websites
  • Providing oversight to campus-wide signature student events and programs
  • Developing and marketing student initiatives and programming
  • Providing oversight, managerial, and administrative support for student organizations and their programming
  • Managing the fiscal affairs of the union and related areas
  • Advising the Okra Entertainment Board of Directors
  • Staying abreast of campus services, programs, resources, and other opportunities
  • Building relationships and partnerships with academic and student service-oriented offices across campus
  • Publishing various calendars, handbooks, and newsletters
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality when working with sensitive information such as grades, disability status, behavioral issues, discipline issues, etc. of current, incoming, and former students.
  • Participates and/or leads educational opportunities, workshops, or experiences as assigned.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues in the field, attending professional development courses, trainings, or conferences as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Responsible for other responsibilities as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in event planning, program development, and implementation, preferably in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of student organization management and advisement.
  • Experience with budget management and fiscal affairs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in social media management and website maintenance.
  • Ability to supervise and enforce policies related to student organizations.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with student information.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.

Salary
Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience working with professional organizations such as NASPA or ACPA.
  • Experience in event planning, program development, and implementation in a university setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student organization management and advisement.
  • Experience with budget management and fiscal affairs in a higher education environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in social media management and website maintenance.
  • Ability to supervise and enforce policies related to student organizations.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with student information.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
