Engineering Product Team Lead

Description

Demco is seeking an Engineering Product Team Lead for our semi-trailer manufacturing facility. This position will focus on proactive management and leadership of all activities related to the Design Engineering department. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.  Demco provides a competitive compensation & benefits package that takes into account your skills, and expertise. This position will work out of our Spencer, IA facility.

Monday - Thursday 7am/4:30pm and Fridays 7am/12pm

Primary Duties:

• Ensure proactive management and leadership of all activities related to accuracy of the Demco Engineering Standards.
• Create and maintain team workload reporting, monitoring, and appraising job results; coach employees; initiate, coordinate, and enforce Demco design standards.
• Provide weekly updates to the Director of Engineering on all project timelines.
• Communicate obstacles/hurdles with possible solutions that affect projected timelines to Director of Engineering.
• Lead Monthly Department meetings. 
• Promote constant motivation among staff to strive for an efficient and effective department operation.
• Direct and promote the team effort in problem-solving and the sharing of information.
• Conduct weekly one on one meetings with direct reports to discuss performance, workload, obstacles, solutions, etc. 
• Coordinate training for new employees. 
• Oversee team projects and lead QR projects to keep on track; report obstacles that could affect timelines; and communicate potential solutions to maintain project timelines. 
• Promote and develop more effective, efficient, and innovative products for the company.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Demco leadership team.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams.
• Gain market knowledge and share with team and Director of Engineering. Includes visiting customers, attending trade shows, industry movement research, and competitor research. 

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

•  BS/BA in Engineering or related field preferred. 
• 5 years’ experience in Engineering or Manufacturing is preferred. Supervisory experience a plus.
• Effective communication through clear and concise expression of concepts both in writing and verbally to all levels of the organization.
• Self-motivated while coachable and a team player.
• Demonstrate the highest ethical standards.
• Knowledge of Solidworks, Teamworks, and Excel. 
• Ability to lead departments and individuals.
• Strong strategic, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
