What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistic specialist position at Deringer?
Job Responsibilities :
- Prepares freight quotations.
- Prepares and maintains freight tariff report.
- Maintains competitive international and domestic transportation rates.
- Corresponds with air / ocean transportation agents to obtain rates for customers.
- Researches new transportation services for customers.
- Promotes trade lanes.
- Follows up with respective agents and sales personnel on quotes.
- Obtains routing orders and routing order checklists for all new business.
- Inputs and proofreads reports, correspondence, forms, etc., often of a confidential nature.
- Maintains and updates overseas agent agreements.
- Performs a wide variety of routine administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing, sorting and distributing mail, obtaining official signatures, etc.
in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assembles relevant data; compiles statistics and information as directed.
- Creates and runs daily, weekly and / or monthly reports and presentations following prescribed formats, but requiring some individual judgment.
- Cross-trains in additional responsibilities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience :
High school diploma with two - five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some college coursework preferred.
Knowledge and Skills :
Highly proficient in Microsoft office products (i.e. Word, Excel). Accurate data entry skills. Excellent keyboarding skills with keying speeds of 65 wpm.
Understands relationship between sales plans and business plans with ability to support both. Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work a shift schedule. Willingness to sign a non-compete / non-disclosure agreement.
