Detroit Pump & Mfg. Co. (www.detroitpump.com), a full-service distributor and service center of process pumping and fluid handling equipment is conducting a search for a motivated and experienced Vice President of Sales.
The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading, supporting, coaching, and motivating a team of sales representatives in designated geographic markets to achieve profitable growth while meeting the needs of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the annual sales plan for each product line and sales representative.
- Execute a strategic sales plan that expands the customer base, and drives sales growth within new and existing accounts.
- Recruit sales representatives, set objectives, train and coach, and monitor performance ensuring assigned tasks and responsibilities are fulfilled.
- Track, analyze, and communicate key metrics as they relate to sales performance and vendor relationships.
- Support, develop and coach the entire sales team, with the intent to make everyone better and more focused, efficient and effective tomorrow than they are today.
- Develop strong relationships with key vendor partners.
- Ensure the sales team regularly engages with key vendor territory managers and that the company is satisfying vendor planning, reporting, prospecting and score card management requirements. Taking appropriate action to enhance Detroit Pump & Mfg.’s reputation among our key vendors to being “best-in-class”.
- Establish and enhance relationships within key accounts.
- Identify and evaluate new sales leads and prospects; conduct prospecting meetings, identify key decision makers and qualify potential customers.
- Monitor and assess competitive products and services; provide follow-up on industry trends; recommend changes to the company’s product offerings and services based on results.
- Occasionally represent Detroit Pump & Mfg. at company events, tradeshows or trade association meetings.
- Partner with Engineering, Customer Service and Operations teams to enhance cooperation, collaboration and ensure a positive customer experience.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with sales training and sales leadership development programs.
- Familiarity with process pumping and fluid handling equipment preferred.
- 5 years of sales management experience, preferably working for or with a distributor.
- Demonstrated success in B to B selling roles and achievement of sales goals.
- Highly motivated and energetic, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in sales planning, and selling the value proposition to various levels of customers, including C level.
- Ambitious, driven, persistent and confident in own ability to achieve targets.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Good understanding of management practices and techniques.
- Proven strategic thinker with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
