Material Handler I
Reports to Inventory Control & Logistics Operations Manager

Position Overview:

The Material Handler performs duties from pulling inventory, issuing material, shipping customer orders, receiving parts, and all movement of inventory. This also includes part storage, binning, and cutting material to the appropriate lengths on a saw. This position is a support role for the entire manufacturing operation.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Pull correct parts to meet the requirements of each manufacturing shop order. All transactions are to be recorded in the computerized inventory management system.

2. Follow directions on shop orders.
3. Follow standardized work rules for conveying parts. Complete quality checks identified in standardized work.

4. Accept delivery and receive in a variety of bar stock, castings, processed parts, and supplies. Count to verify received quantity, label raw material, and put away per specified parameters.

5. Use floor computer terminals to perform job tasks, such as moving material to stock and quality location, creating labels, etc

6. Load and unload trucks.

7. Use floor computer terminals to perform job tasks, such as punching in and off jobs, issuing materials to production, receiving items into arrivals, reviewing work instructions and drawings, reviewing material availability, creating labels, etc

8. Set up and operate saws as needed, per shop order schedules and machine schedules.

9. Issue parts, materials to Production and Transfer parts to appropriate work centers following written instructions, shop orders, pick tickets.

10. Check saws for proper operation, add hydraulic and coolant fluid, change blades, as needed.

11. Pick goods, parts, materials from stock areas, count and scan the number of parts required, following pick ticket details.

12. Prepare and package component parts and materials for safe shipping transfer to customer destination per specified parameters.

13. Check for accuracy and completeness of customer order to ensure all items are present and verify shipping address and carrier method.

14. Combine packaged items in cartons, add filler as necessary, and secure cartons on skids as required.

15. Perform picking and packing/shipping route processes per defined parameters.
16. Wash parts if required before the first manufacturing operation.
17. Deliver parts to the first manufacturing process.
18. Maintain standard cycle times for each order.
19. Report any anomalies to and Inventory Coordinator for immediate resolution.
20. Responsible for inventory accuracy.
21. Keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
22. Understand and follow all safety rules.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

1. Capability of reading and interpreting documents such as standardized work and safety rules.

2. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

3. Proficiency in basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
4. Ability to work on a team and use problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to work in a controlled environment.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. One to three years related experience.

Physical Demands:

Continuously lifting or moving lightweight material. Occasionally lifting or moving average weight material in difficult work positions. Ability to lift, move, pull, push or carry anywhere from 5 to 25 lbs with a max of 50 lbs at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
