What you'll do here

As the Events Manager, News, you will project manage the calendar and production of news events, virtually along with in-person and hybrid. This can include flagship summits like Devex World and Prescription for Progress, regular Newsmaker events with world leaders, as well as a robust calendar of in-person and digital events tied to key moments in global development like Davos, the UN General Assembly, World Bank annual meetings among others. You will work with our special coverage team along with a global team of reporters and editors, event marketers, and producers to bring the editorial vision of events to life developing efficient systems and workflows to streamline the process and keeping our audience top of mind. 

In your first 90 days, you'll establish a smooth workflow for project managing a wide range of events, including speaker coordination, coordinating marketing, social and multimedia assets, and event production. You won’t have to do it all, but you will be the one making sure the trains are running and deadlines are met. You will develop and lead speaker briefings with high level speakers and own the production of our Newmaker series.

By the time you finish your first year, you’ll have managed a robust calendar of events that bring unique and engaged audiences helping to grow our Devex Pro, influencer, and overall audience. You will know how to execute an impactful news event that brands want to align themselves with, diverse speakers want to participate in, and professionals want to attend.

Required Qualifications

Here are the indicators that this could be a good role for you:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management and coordination

  • Experience planning, developing, and executing engaging events both in person and virtual

  • Excellent English writing skills

  • Proven excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills along with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast moving, collaborative environment

Bonus

Besides the basics, here’s what we’d love to see you have experience in:

  • You haven’t just heard of the World Bank and Gates Foundation; you know what they do and how they work

  • Understanding and interest in development and/or humanitarian issues

  • Experience working with a team of journalists or researchers
