What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRO Buyer position at DeZURIK, Inc.?

GENERAL SUMMARY
The MRO Buyer will procure parts and/or services and manage suppliers related to maintenance, repair, and operation of shop processes & activities, and maintaining of tools, machinery & equipment.  This role will also perform activities that are in alignment with DeZURIK’s purchasing strategies and policies. 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Identify and select the best suppliers for the purchase of materials, parts, equipment, tools, supplies, and services.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for the best price and delivery of the required materials in the correct quantity, quality, & time.  Develop long term supply agreements. Issue the purchase orders to meet requirements. 
  • Work with Maintenance personnel to procure parts and services within the Maintenance System.
  • Manage suppliers. Resolve discrepancies and optimize payment terms and freight terms.  Resolve NCR’s.
  • Maintain current prices and lead times for purchased materials and use to establish annual standard costs as needed. 
  • Source new suppliers for cost savings, lead time reduction, and quality improvements to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for department flow.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 2-year associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field a plus
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of industrial purchasing of parts and services to support machine shop activities.
  • Requires product knowledge of cutting tools, accessories, and shop supplies, and understanding of varied manufacturing processes.   

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITLIES
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Position requires movement around the facilities.
  • Occasional handling of material and components

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment.  When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots).  Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules.  Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
