What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Associate position at DGI Supply?
SUMMARY:
The Accounting Associate is responsible for processing high-volume work including posting cash and printing/sorting invoices for the accounting team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides general accounting support
- Daily processing of cash receipts and postings to customer accounts, including payments made by Check, ACH, Credit Card, Wire Transfer or Intercompany Netting
- Ensure accuracy of cash postings by contacting the AR Customer if there is a discrepancy
- Researching unapplied cash
- Conduct payment research requests and respond to internal business partners
- Reconciling credits and returns to demonstrate accurate outstanding balance to customer
- Providing customer with copies of invoices, statements or any supporting documents as requested
- Print and distribute invoices received via email, mail or fax
- Key AP invoices into ERP system (Prophet21)
- Mail and file any outgoing checks
- Provides coverage for front desk as a receptionist as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Reports to the Staff Accountant
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent follow up skills
- Good listening skills and attention to details
- Basic Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); previous experience with Prophet21 (p21) preferred
- Accounts Receivable experience a plus
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple and changing responsibilities
- High level of integrity and self-starter who is motivated and driven
- Passionate, Adaptable, Customer Focused and Teamwork oriented
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability
