Description

Job Purpose:
Identifies and helps to develop strategic relationships with partners or potential customers. Responsible for developing new business opportunities across the designated territory.


Duties:
•    Assists in the development of a strong pipeline of new customers and projects through direct or indirect customer contact and prospecting.
•    Assists in formulating standard/routine proposals in conjunction with various team members.
•    Assists in developing a budget and price estimate using standard models.
•    Assists other Business Development Associates in developing project plans, defining roles and responsibilities and the scope of work for each project.
•    Draft the narrative that ties the project components together and package and assist in presenting the proposal to the customer.
•    Communicate the outcome of negotiations/proposals focusing back to team members, focusing on conveying the expectations set forth for each group.
•    Collaborate with Accounting to evaluate project performance and recommend refinements and improvements of all components of proposals.
•    Track and report on the status of all proposal components.
•    Establish and maintain on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve potential problems.
•    Participate in site visits, as needed.
•    Qualify sales leads generated by phone, internet marketing, demos, webinars, trade shows, industry and target account lists.
•    Proactively develop potential sales leads by prospecting and outbound cold calling.
•    Take leads generated through marketing activity and develop them into viable prospects.
•    Execute lead generation programs to increase attendance at upcoming events, seminars, and create awareness for current promotions.
•    Identify decision makers amongst the targeted leads in order to start the sales process.
•    Collaborate with Marketing and Account Executives to determine essential strategic approaches for account attainment in defined markets.
•    Educate clients about terminology, features and benefits of services in order to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
•    Track daily and weekly sales activities.
•    Support other Business Development team members, as needed.
•    Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.
•    Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications


Education and Experience
•    4-year degree from an accredited university required; equivalent years of experience required.
•    At least 3 year of experience in industry business development and/or research required.
•    Hazmat or DG knowledge strongly preferred.

•    Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills.
•    Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
•    Experience with budgeting process.
•    Ability to manage multiple and diverse projects simultaneously.
•    Demonstrated ability to identify potential opportunities and the executional capability to bring them to fruition.
•    Creative thinker with highly developed analytical skills with very high attention to detail.
•    Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and establish trust and credibility quickly.
•    Willingness to travel as needed.


Working Conditions 
•    Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; bend, kneel and lift cumbersome and/or heavy objects.
•    Prolonged and/or irregular hours as needed.
