What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Engineer position at DICE?

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Recommender Platform team, to join a rapidly evolving project, and to scale our recommendation platform to make DICE more reliable and impactful for its partners and customers.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Recommender Platform team, to help bring AI solutions to the product.
You’re an experienced individual who is passionate about building and scaling data platforms, and comfortable supporting the diverse needs of multiple teams. You’ll be in an inspiring and fast-moving environment as part of a cross-functional team, working closely with developers, data scientists, data engineers and product managers. You’ll be building data tools, designing highly-scalable systems, and testing theories to arrive at essential insights that will help disrupt a global industry. You will contribute to improving our ways of working and establishing standards across the data team.
We work in an iterative approach, designing, building and trialling out new concepts quickly to test our assumptions and create the best service for our fans & partners. We also keep pursuing the best approaches to the many challenges we face in delivering high-scale and richly-personalised services. We want engineers open to collaboration and that want to be an integral part of the product design process.
You’ll be
- You will join a team of experienced engineers to work on our data platform. That can include deprecating legacy systems, and building new solutions.
- You will work with Product Managers and other engineers to support the formulation and implementation of a data engineering strategy.
- You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a project of your choice - that is aligned with our business objectives, and planning a roadmap for its delivery.
- After your probation, you will have the opportunity to participate in the DICE Tech Lead programme - which can accelerate your career to Principal level by giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your strategy thinking and delivery skills.
- You are proactive in bringing the team to a higher level of technical maturity, by establishing best practices, overcoming siloed thinking, and encouraging collaborations.
- You are actively liaising with Data Product Managers, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Data Scientists to build the best recommendations and personalisation solutions for DICE.

You’ll need
- Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer with expertise in building solutions, whilst also bringing a strategic outlook.
- Experience of building at scale, high-reliability end-to-end data solutions and pipelines.
- Knowledge in data engineering best practices and evidence of successful implementation.
- Extensive experience designing, maintaining, and interfacing with REST APIs.
- Excellent knowledge of various data warehousing technologies for gathering and consolidating data from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of data governance, security & privacy, lineage, and quality frameworks in cloud environments.
- Solid development experience with Python (other programming languages is a plus).
- Knowledge of data science workflow/ MLOps.
- Knowledge of A/B testing or multivariate testing frameworks.
- Advanced SQL skills, i.e. Postgresql or similar.
- Experience of Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-Code e.g. Terraform.
- Good knowledge of UNIX, Github, and AWS.
- Experience of workflow orchestration software such as Prefect or similar.
- Previous experience with recommendation/personalisation platform is a plus.
