The Riding Mower Operator drives gasoline or diesel-powered riding mower to cut grass and trim out those areas the tractor & batwing operators cannot reach or when the use of a tractor box cutter or batwing might cause damage or injury to property or personnel. The Riding Mower Operator fastens attachments such as cutting decks, graders, plows, rollers, movers (less 2,000 lbs.), backhoes, and seeders and sic harrows to the mower, inspects, lubricates, and adjusts equipment for proper operation.
As part of the Contract Operations Department, this position is responsible for maintaining grounds on industrial, commercial, or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, airports, playgrounds, greenhouses, and athletic fields and repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractor to move materials, draw implements, tow trailers, pull objects embedded in the ground, lower or load heavy material or equipment. This person connects and disconnects attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, disc harrows to the mower. Per the equipment operator's manual, this person also adjusts equipment for proper operation, lubricates, and makes minor repairs to tractors and attachments such as tightening bolts and replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws. In addition, this person will need to be able to perform independently, have an experience level that would allow him/her to evaluate topography and the effects on it from weather conditions, patterns, and ground erosion.
The key performance standards of this position are measured by the timely and accurate operation and adhering to all production schedules and standards within the Contract Statement of Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
Tractor Operation Performance – 85%
- Performs the day-to-day operations of the state site grounds maintenance contract.
- Follows and applies all safety procedures to meet federal and company standards; halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment and assisting in the activities of the safety committee by promptly reporting unsafe conditions to an immediate supervisor to include wearing all personal protection equipment for assigned function.
- Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all clients and ensures training, incident reporting of all personnel regarding Human Rights violations
- Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy.
- Ensures the correct operation of all equipment.
Administrative – 15%
- Follows and conforms to established company standard operating procedures
- Fosters teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; gives feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance and models dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
- Assists in managing department purchasing and budget by ensuring minimum waste of assigned equipment products and materials.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.
