What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Seafood Supervisor position at Dierbergs Markets Inc?

Position Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and support the operations of our Deli and Seafood departments by developing and building the character of the deli/seafood teams; focusing on better execution of programs, procedures and policies; and continually working toward creating better customer experiences to help create a long term, sustainable business.

Overall Job Functions
  • Provides direction and support to the Deli and Seafood Management teams with day-to-day operations while reinforcing Character > Process > Result
  • Work closely to ensure collaboration and alignment with the Deli and Seafood Management teams and the Store Management teams
  • Ensure successful hiring, training, development of staff, raising the levels of performance, coaching, and development of future managers
  • Look for opportunities to continually drive business and increase the sales and profitalbilty of the departments by monitoring operational procedures, measurement standards, and related programs to ensure expense control, margin targets, and sales objectives
  • Demonstrate, support, and reinforce Dierbergs Grow Every Day Customer Service philosophy and superior customer service standards
  • Ensure compliance of all regulations and laws relating to the operations (including sanitation, food handling, and health department guidelines)
  • Monitor the quality standards and consistency on an ongoing basis of products, prepared foods programs and merchandising
  • Maintain communication between all levels of management and departments within the company
  • Assist Store Teams in monitoring the morale and Associate relations within the departments. Maintain communication with the Human Resources department on staffing needs and requirements. Work closely with the H.R and Learning department on all applicable issues and department training materials
  • Oversee the merchandising of the departments to ensure compliance with expectations and standards

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in operating deli/seafood/food service operations
  • Strong knowledge and passion to work with food with an eagerness to continue to learn and stay up-to-date on trends and competition
  • Have the creative skills or the desire to learn the merchandising skills required to display merchandise in the Deli and Seafood departments including: fresh prepared foods, specialty cheese shops, raw seafood, service case and self-service displays. Ability to create schematics, establish program details and implement new programs
  • Strong knowledge of safety, food safety and food service sanitation standards. Must maintain Serv Safe certification
  • Strong knowledge of, or desire to learn, Deli/Seafood food production, specialty cheese/production, and seafood handling/cooking
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
