Graphic Designer - Digital Internship (Louisville, KY Metro Only)

Congo Brands’ creative department is looking for a talented graphic design intern candidate who can take direction to conceptualize and create visual representations, in both print and digital media. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of current design software and have basic knowledge in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable. The candidate will also have a basic understanding of branding/marketing and will possess the skills to design or layout for each project that is assigned.

Objectives of this role

• Work on a wide range of projects and media, using various software programs to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs
• Obtain input from an Art Director to ensure that designs meet appropriate standards and brand expectations, expressing ideas accurately
• Can time-manage efficiently to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and brainstorm with team or Art Director on a wide range of materials that may include packaging, posters, point-of-purchase, and marketing support material
• Translate art/design direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity
• Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content by determining the usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout design
• Manage the design and uploading process for project assets, based on best practices used by the team

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Self-motivated creativity and innovative design skills
• Competency in Adobe Creative Suite design software apps
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Desire to continue building skillset with mentorship and training

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Experience (Academic or professional) in graphic design projects
• Junior level, or higher, studies in graphic design, art, or related discipline
• Working knowledge of creating digital and social media assets
• Basic photography knowledge and competency with photo-editing software
