Global Controller

Your role

The VP Accounting, Global Controller is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of the business’s global accounting and reporting functions. As a direct report to the Chief Accounting Officer, the role holder will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate record to reporting processes, in line with applicable Accounting Standards, Regulatory Compliance and the Group’s accounting policies.

What you’ll do

• Supporting the Chief Accounting Officer to deliver an optimized global operating model for the Accounting function, including setting performance standards, oversight across people, process, and systems topics within Accounting to ensure consistency and accuracy
• Leading the Global Accounting team to:
  • take ownership and ensure the effectiveness of day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close, including consolidation of global results and monthly variance reporting
  • deliver reporting processes supported by robust and proportionate controls (working knowledge of SOX and appreciation for local statutory compliance)
  • lead change and challenge the team to standardize and optimize global processes
  • lead and/or support all reporting requirements, including SEC and statutory reporting
• Responsible for financial governance, control & ensuring alignment to Accounting Standards and the Company’s accounting policies
• Deputizing for the Chief Accounting Officer as required
• Oversight and support of external audits globally; act as liaison with external auditors
• Supporting identified continuous improvement projects
• The role will be based in the US and the holder will have oversight of an international team, so travel to APAC, EMEA and within the Americas is expected
• Responsible for guidance and professional development of direct reports, including technically upskilling the team
• Stepping up and leading special projects as required, including systems implementations of systems and/or tools used by Accounting organization

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline required; CPA is preferred
• 15 years of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for Public Company experience
• Technology industry experience strongly preferred; REIT experience desired
• SEC reporting background and experience required
• Project management/ERP systems implementation experience is required
• Strong, demonstrated management and leadership skills, highly regarded for integrity, ethics, flexibility, teamwork, professional excellence, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work in a fast-paced environment
• Highly effective communicator (up, across, down) both written and orally
• Practical, results-oriented team builder with superior analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
