What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Carpenter position at Dilling Group?
We currently have a need for full-time experienced General Carpenter for work in and around the Indianapolis, Logansport and Kokomo areas.
Much of the work being performed will be in a heavy industrial environment. Some of our customers include steel mills, food and beverage facilities, chemical facilities, orthopedic facilities, plastics, and automotive manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities can include A General Carpenter performs various functions such as creating frameworks, erecting scaffolding, assembling forms from different materials such as wood, metal, and some plastics, has complete knowledge of the industry, knowledge of concrete construction, metal stud framing, door hardware and swing have ability to read and interpret building diagrams to ascertain the proper dimensions, shape, and design of a form structure and carry out other duties as assigned.
Skills needed from the Ideal Candidate:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Must be strong on structural steel applications
- Must have the ability to lay out forms, spread, rake and finish concrete
- Ability and knowledge of laying out wall systems with use of metal framing
- Knowledge and experience of doors and hardware installs
- Responsible for operating electrical, air-powered, and regular hand tools
- Responsible for carrying out general construction labor tasks
- Possess good mathematics skills
- Safety first to ensure compliance with all appropriate safety procedures ad adhere to OSHA safety regulations.
- Team player-work weekends, OT and out of state if needed
- Completed work should be neat in appearance and operate properly
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
