Department/Location: St. Odilia Parish / Oro Valley, AZ
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Pastor, School Principal or other assigned manager is responsible for performing janitorial services and light maintenance in a parish, school, or other facility. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Activities: Walking: sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling; hearing; carrying; and climbing ladders.
Basic Qualifications:
St Odilia is a Roman Catholic religious organization and that all employees are expected to respect and conduct themselves in accordance with the values, teachings, and morals of the Roman Catholic Church and by Arizona state law. Under the “Zero Tolerance Policy”, no one will be knowingly assigned or retained to serve in the Parish/Church/School when that person is determined to have engaged in the abuse of a minor or to have violated boundaries in dealing with minors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Church’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
- Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
- Develop a cleaning schedule to assure the Church or school is clean and maintained in an orderly fashion.
- Perform general custodial duties to include cleaning and light maintenance of the parish or school facilities.
- Assist grounds person on an “as needed” basis.
- Perform scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc. as directed and in accordance with the parish maintenance schedule.
- Provide set-up and cleaning of facilities for all activities as directed.
- Maintain a supply of cleaning supplies and equipment; properly account for materials and equipment.
- Maintain security of buildings, equipment, and tools
- Comply with safety regulations as required; maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; must be in full communion with the Catholic Church
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners, and the public
- Must be a self-starter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must; ability to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required.
- Working familiarity with computer technology
- Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check.
- Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Be able to read directions and label safety warnings. Must be safety conscious.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in handling janitorial equipment and maintenance tools
- Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance.
- High school graduate or equivalent education
- 1 years’ experience in a commercial or private maintenance, janitorial or similar position.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
