Directions for Youth & Families offers community-based mental health and prevention services that utilize a resiliency-oriented and trauma-informed framework. DFYF has provided innovative, culturally sensitive, and successful programming to the Central Ohio community since 1899, through our predecessor Crittenton Family Services. DFYF’s programs are divided into 3 categories: Treatment, Prevention, and Education. DFYF offers specialized mental health, kindergarten readiness, afterschool and summer programming to meet the diverse needs of our youth and family population. DFYF proudly serves over 5,000 youth, adults, and families each year. All of our programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope, healing, and resilience for youth, families, and communities through counseling and education.
Position overview:
Directions for Youth and Families is looking for an energetic and creative individual to be a part of our After-School team as the Supervisor of the Crittenton Center. The Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations, programming for youth, and ensure funder expectations are being met. Additional responsibilities included are the supervision of Prevention Specialists, recruitment of youth, parent engagement, planning and completion of special events, assist with the training of staff, conduct weekly supervisions, and additional tasks requested by Program Manager. Applicants should be prepared to create a welcoming, engaging, and safe environment for all youth to attend while utilizing a Trauma Informed/Resiliency Oriented approach.
The position is full-time Monday through Friday. Hours during the school year are 11am to 8pm and during the summer months 8am to 4pm. Team meetings and occasional special events that may require coming in prior or staying later. Applicants should be comfortable working with youth between the ages of 8 – 18 years of age, completing all required documentation daily, and possess basic computer skills. Afterschool programming days are Monday-Friday, hours 3pm – 8pm, summer hours 9am – 3pm Applicant should possess a valid driver’s licenses and insurance as they may be required to transport youth home or to special events. Bachelor’s degree preferred and experience facilitating activities and working with youth required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree preferred
- Valid driver's license with insurance
- Excellent engagement skills & the ability to redirect youth, facilitate activities, multi-task, meet deadlines
- Minimum 2 years of staff supervision experience preferred
- Outstanding youth development skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a warm, strict, orderly program environment including enforcing behavior expectations with students
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and program management skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- The ability to work effectively with colleagues as a positive, professional member of a team
