Position Description
The Tourism Sales Manager networks with potential clients and assists with new event sales and marketing strategies. This is a part-time position, estimated at an average of 25 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Tourism Sales Manager
Devises new ways to create that client base.
Develops promotional and advertising materials for the new event initiatives within the City of Austin.
Reaches out to organizations and businesses that might require space within the city of Austin for conferences and events.
Meets with representatives from these companies to promote the City of Austin’s merits and amenities.
Overcomes hesitations of clients to close a sale.
Maintains positive relationships with clients to encourage repeat and recurring business.

Education and Experience
Tourism Sales Manager preferred but not required to hold bachelor’s Degrees in Business, Marketing or Communications. Ideal candidates would have 2 years of experience in the sales and marketing sector, preferably in the hospitality section.
Work Environment
Tourism Sales Manager spends major of time in an office, overseeing bookings, researching potential clients, processing paperwork, and making calls. A Tourism Sales Manager also travels around the community to meet and greet guests, arrange site tours and maintain relationships with community stakeholders.
Compensation
This is a part-time position, estimated at an average of 25 hours per week with flexibility. Wage ranges from $20/hr-$25/hour depending on years of experience. Potential to also receive an additional commission from event bookings that have a positive in economic impact to the Austin community.
